Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long will it take to get my new resume?

A. Our turnaround time depends on how many resume projects we have in progress.

Q. Will I be able to talk to someone or is this all done online?

A. YES! You talk to us! Then you email us your information, but it all starts with a phone call so we can get to know you and your unique job search situation.

Q. Why do I need an ATS-friendly resume?

A. Applicant Tracking Systems screen resumes for certain parameters set by employers when they post a job opening. The ATS looks for specific information to select resumes to move forward for consideration.

Being ATS-friendly means you won’t get lost in the system because of poor document formatting like the use of text boxes, columns, or too many different fonts.

The use of keywords from the job posting is also important in getting through the ATS. Can we just say “it’s complicated?”

Q. When I apply for a job, should I send my reference page when I submit my resume and cover letter?

A. No, unless the instructions specifically request them, print and take your reference page to your interview.

Q. Why is it recommended to update your resume as soon as you start a new job?

A. You should always be ready with a CURRENT resume. Some companies will ask for an updated resume for their files or to consider you for a promotion. You also might have a friend or acquaintance who asks you if you have a resume you could send over because they have heard of a great new job that would be perfect for you. In other words, you should always be prepared to take advantage of an unexpected opportunity.
